Computer updates and baking cakes

I haven’t got much done today. My computer decided it was time for some massive updates, which took somewhere around two hours to install. I didn’t stay to watch.

As I couldn’t do any writing, I decided to make a cake. I seem to be getting increasingly worse at baking, possibly because I’m not actually well enough for the care and concentration required. Certainly before I’d finished I was keen to go back to bed for a sleep, but of course I couldn’t because I had to wait for the cake to be ready to come out of the oven.

I normally sleep in the afternoon anyway, but because I hadn’t managed to get much done this morning (beyond an acceptable but not great cake) it’s made the rest of the day feel like I’ve done very little.

But that’s chronic illness. Bake a cake, ruin the day.
